Burning Bush Sundaes (Moses)
For this recipe you will need two containers that can be tightly sealed, with
one fitting inside the other with room for ice between them. Small and a large
coffee cans work great.
Place in small container:
3/4 cup sugar
6 cups half and half
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
Place small container inside larger one, then fill to about half full with ice cubes and 3 cups rock salt. Sit in a circle or in a pair and roll the can back and forth. This will probably take at least 10 minutes. You may have to add more ice cubes if most have melted.
Remove ice cream from small container to a bowl and add sprinkles (red, yellow, orange) to create a burning bush. Take one sugar cube and drip one or two drops of lemon extract on the cube, then place cube on top of the sundae. Ignite the sugar cube creating a "Burning Bush."
Good Fortune Cookies (Jesus' Disciples)
1 cup sifted flour
8 Tablespoons sugar
4 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon salt
7 Tablespoons oil
4 egg whites
4 Tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Stir together the dry ingredients. Add oil and egg whites and stir until smooth. Add water and mix thoroughly. Lightly grease the electric skillet. Pour 1 Tablespoon of the batter into the skillet and spread into a 3 1/2 inch circle, using the back of the spoon. Cook over low heat until lightly brown (about 3-4 minutes). Flip over and cook for one minute more.
Remove the cookie from the pan and place on a paper towel. Place the "good fortune" in the center of the circle and fold the cookie in half over it. Fold the cookie in half again by placing it over the edge of a bowl. Cool cookies in a muffin tin to hold their shape. Makes 32 cookies.
